START

Every day, at a time convenient for you.
How many secrets, unexpected discoveries and miracles are hidden in the underground city: these are secret tunnels, and dungeons, and church cellars, and forgotten stories about city life, treasures found, legends and myths about wars, lovers, deceit and deceit - all this you will learn during the tour. We will begin the excursion from the cellars under the Archcathedral, where you will see how and where the nobility, rulers, bishops of the cathedral and their assistants are buried; where the first cathedral stood and what happened to it. All cellars intended for the exposition (except for the Mausoleum of rulers) date back to the XV–XVI centuries. The Cathedral acquired its modern look in the XIX century. You will have a unique opportunity to see the oldest fresco in Lithuania (XIV century). Other sights of the dungeon will also attract attention - the secret Crypt of the kings, the Mausoleum of the rulers, where the remains of Barbora Radvilaite rest. The exposition, installed in crypts and corridors, introduces funerary traditions and archaeological finds (among the oldest and most valuable is a silver sculpture of an Angel).

You will also see

Objects to visit: Dungeons of the Cathedral, cellars of the Amber Gallery, Chapel of Saint Casimir, Church of the Holy Cross, cellars of the Museum House of Maria and Jurgis Shlapyalisov, Basement gallery on St. Jono Street. During the tour we will visit the Amber Gallery (which is housed in a XVII century baroque building). The building has preserved the remains of Renaissance and Classicism architecture with elements of Gothic architecture. Here we will see how amber was formed 50 million years ago, what colors and shapes it happens. The largest amber in this museum weighs almost 3 kg. This collection consists of amber raw materials and 434 products of various shapes and colors. During the tour you will have the opportunity to touch a natural piece of amber, to try “Amber vodka”, to buy various jewelry (with quality certificates confirming that you have purchased a high-quality product from natural Baltic amber) and find out the secret: how to distinguish real amber from a fake.
